Clubs & Activities
One of the things we are most excited about this year is the return of many of our extracurricular opportunities for students. We firmly believe students have a better overall school experience when they are involved in something beyond traditional academics. To that end, here is a list of offerings if your child is interested:
Math Team (Grade 5)
The Math Team will meet on Monday mornings at 7:45 AM in Mr. Barton’s room.
Activities Club (Grades 3-5)
Mr. Sprague will send out a sign-up sheet each Monday morning. Activities Club will be offered Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7:45 AM - 8:30 AM. A student may sign up for one day only and it is capped at 30 participants for each session.
Band (Grade 5)
Mr. Jackson will meet with band students during the general music period. These lessons will be in mixed instrument groups. Like-instrument instruction will meet before school starting the week of September 13 on the following schedule:
Thursdays: Sax & Clarinets
Students may take the Middle School bus, which will drop them off at the correct time for these lessons. You may also drop your child off at FES.
Chorus (Grades 4 & 5)
Chorus with Mr. Pollock will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays (you will get emails and paperwork explaining when your child/ren will come) and will run from 7:45 to 8:30 AM on the stage in the cafeteria. All students are welcome.
Small Group Chorus (Grade 5)
Small Group is an auditioned chorus for fifth graders who love to sing. Auditions will be held at various times throughout the month of September-check the bulletin board outside the music rooms to sign up for an audition. Small Group will rehearse on Tuesday mornings from 7:45-8:30 AM and will be directed by Mrs. Hanaburgh.
Fall Theater (Grades 4 & 5)
Fall theater with Ms. Waite will kick off September 8th after school. Rehearsals will be held after school until 4:30 PM Monday - Thursday. There will be some later rehearsals as we get closer to production. All of that will be clearly outlined when schedules are handed out at the first rehearsal.
Spring Theater (Grades 3 - 5)
Spring theater with Ms. Wood will commence the week of April 11. All students that audition will get a part! Rehearsals will begin the week of April 25th (after school) until the end of May with the final performance the first or second week in June.
Civil Rights Team (Grades 3-5)
Here at Falmouth Elementary School we welcome everyone! The FES Civil Rights Team celebrates a school community where we all belong. Civil Rights Team advisors are school counselors Mrs. Loef and Mrs. Perez.
Chess Club (Grades 3-5)
Please email Mr. Chabot if your child is interested in learning how to play chess. Notice this is “if your child is interested in learning how to play chess” and not “if you are interested in having your child learn how to play chess!”
Book Clubs (Grades 4 & 5)
Ms. McInerney will be hosting before school book clubs for fourth and fifth graders. Fourth grade will meet on Tuesdays at 7:45 AM and Fifth grade will meet on Thursdays at 7:45 AM. Sign-ups will be quarterly and groups will be limited to 25 students, so that all students who wish to join will have a chance to meet during at least one quarterly rotation.
